Village Hall Extension

Laughton Parish Hall received grant funding to renovate and extend the hall to make it more energy-efficient and to improve access for disabled people. CRB was one of several companies invited to tender. The project had a special resonance because Ben Clear, CRB's MD, had used the hall while a student at the adjacent primary school. It was the building in which he sat through school assemblies and acted in school plays. CRB had previously worked nearby, too, when Malcolm Clear, then MD, oversaw the construction of a music room at the school. The latest project has involved refurbishing the existing hall to include new insulation, drylining and floors, and, most importantly, the building of a new entrance hall and WCs. The extension was designed by Tony Harrison of MHD Architects, Ringmer. Tony specified an ensemble of modern materials combining new technology with traditional finishes, such as Thermowood cladding on the external walls, and bespoke aluminium soffit and fascias which CRB had specially fabricated. Aluminium is a great material for this application, as it never suffers from typical corrosion

CRB is a family-owned and managed company with a staff of 16 full-time employees, supported by a network of specialist sub-contractors.
